Pelargonium suburbanum subsp. bipinnatifidum is a sprawling, densely hairy shrublet reaching 30 cm to 40 cm in height. The plant grows tuberous roots and trailing stems.
The subspecies distribution is in the Western Cape from Melkbosstrand and Malmesbury to Riversdale. The photo was taken in Sir Lowry's Pass.
The habitat is scrub on coastal dunes, limestone ridges and lower fynbos slopes. The habitat population of the subspecies is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Marais, (Ed.), 2017; Manning, 2007; Mustart, et al, 1997; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
