Some stages in the developmental sequence of Pelargonium capitatum flowers are shown in this umbel. They range from buds in the centre to mature flowers in the periphery that have already lost their anthers. Flowers at intermediate stages still have the orange anthers.
Not all the stamens in a Pelargonium flower manage to bear anthers. Purple stigmas with delicate, out-curving branches and some densely hairy sepals are visible.
