Pelargonium echinatum flowering pink

This Pelargonium echinatum plant has some younger flowers with more pink colouring on the petal periphery than on the older flowers also present in the same umbels. This species usually has three to eight flowers per umbel (a spherical inflorescence structure created by individual flower pedicels of about equal length radiating out from the tip of the peduncle or central flower stalk shared by the whole inflorescence).

Hundreds of individual flowers may be seen in season on a flourishing P. echinatum plant. The cup-shape of an emerging flower bud is also in evidence in the photo. The leaves show a soft texture here as well as the lobed heart-shape characteristic of the species (iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
