The unopened buds of Pelargonium ovale subsp. ovale show the sepals with their pale beige-green surfaces covered in short, soft white hairs still clutching the corollas. The sepals are elliptic to ovate in shape with pointed tips. Triangular bracts are visible at the branching point of the only two pedicels or flower stalks produced in this case at the top of the peduncle (Manning, 2009; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
