The simple Podalyria burchellii leaves grow alternate and short-stalked on short-haired branches.

The elliptic to nearly rounded blades have entire margins and rounded tips, sometimes with a tiny mucro protruding. The lateral leaf halves fold in along the midribs that are recessed on the upper surfaces.

The dull green to dark green blades are hairless although sometimes coarse or faintly silky-haired on top, densely velvety and pale below. Old leaves may appear rusty from hair discoloration (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Gledhill, 1981; iNaturalist).
