Podalyria myrtillifolia is a rounded single-stemmed, sometimes multistemmed shrub reaching heights around 2 m. It mostly reseeds, may occasionally perform fast after fire with the resprouters.

The pretty pink flower shape indicates the family connection with beans and peas (Fabaceae). An inflorescence consists of up to three flowers.

The species distribution is in the Western Cape from the Cape Peninsula to Tulbagh and eastwards along the southern Cape coast into the Eastern Cape as far as Gqeberha.

The habitat is fynbos slopes and flats in limestone, shale or sandstone. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century.

The plant can be turned into a bonsai (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
