The tuft of bristles at the keel tip of the Polygala myrtifolia var. pinifolia flower is white in this case, the wing sepals pale but for their pinkish purple tips. The photo was taken in August near Ladismith, about the beginning of the plants blooming season.
The grey-green leaves are borne erectly as if magnetised by the sky. Their tips are mostly yellowed. The younger stem is cream coloured, the older one red-brown (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
