    Phylica buxifolia leaves up close

    Phylica buxifolia leaves up close
    Author: Ivan Lätti

Leaf-shape in Phylica buxifolia varies a bit in blade curvature, less than waviness. Up close the consistent marginal downturn brings interesting shapes in view.

The upper leaf surfaces are covered in very sparse hairs, apart from along the white hairy lines of the midribs. Lower surfaces are another matter, white in dense, velvety fashion here. Net-veining is sometimes visible, even prominently raised below, not always (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iNaturalist).
