The fruit of Phylica villosa is a dehiscent, globose capsule, crowned with a ring of calyx remains. In picture, the upper third above the ring of the nearly ripe fruit is dark purple and glossy, more so than the lower part.
The fruits are large compared to the flowers still present higher up in the same raceme (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
