Pteronia onobromoides, commonly known by a retained Nama or San name of sab and in Afrikaans as Hottentotsboegoe (Hottentotsbuchu), is a rounded shrub reaching heights to 70 cm.

The species distribution is coastal in the west of the country, in the Northern Cape from Port Nolloth to Langebaan in the Western Cape. The photo was taken at Tietiesbaai.

The habitat is sandy flats. The species is not considered threatened in habitat early in the twenty first century.

The plant was used in traditional medicine, also as a deodorant, disinfectant and perfume in olden days (Hulley, et al, 2010: Ethnobotany, leaf anatomy, essential oil composition and antibacterial activity of Pteronia onobromoides (Asteraceae).
