The stalkless flowerheads of Pteronia fasciculata grow solitary or in clusters at stem-tips, often appearing profusely on many of the stems. The involucre consisting of a few rows of pointed bracts is obscured by the upper stem leaves. There are no scales on the receptacle below the involucre.

A flowerhead comprises a dense tuft of bisexual, yellow disc florets only, no rays. Flowerhead diameter is about 3 cm. The disc florets are narrowly cylindrical, five corolla lobes opening at the top of each.

Flowering happens from before midspring to after midsummer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
