    Pachypodium namaquanum is occasionally branched, rarely branching much. All the branches are erect, close to each other but sufficiently far apart for the spines not to harm neighbouring branches.

    The deciduous leaves occur at the stem-tips, meaning they are retained only for a while (Mannheimer and Curtis, (Ed.), 2009; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
