The leaves of Syncarpha vestita are obovate, blue-green, narrow and woolly with smooth and entire margins. They tend to crowd towards the top of the erect branches. The clusters of conical flowerheads, 5 cm in diameter, are positioned at the branch tips nestled among the leaves.

Several rows of narrow, white, papery bracts with sharp points make up the involucre. In the centre of the flowerhead the disc of tiny flowers is a contrasting purplish colour. The fruit is oblong with a feathery pappus (Bean and Johns, 2005 and Manning 2007).
