Serruria adscendens

Serruria adscendens grows from a single stem into a rounded shrub of 1 m. The branches are much divided and reddish in colour. The leaves are dissected into cylindrical needle-like segments, up to 17 per leaf, all pointing more or less upwards.

The flowerheads start off with buds that are curved and hairy. The fragrant flowerheads, described as “silvery pink mopheads” are positioned among the upper leaves at stem tips. They are compounds of many tiny flowers. Each flowerhead comprises 5 to 25 sections or "headlets" made up of 6 to 10 florets each (Bean and Johns, 2005).
