Serruria fasciflora, the common pin spiderhead, is a single-stemmed, sprawling or erect shrub reaching about 50 cm in height. Plants live for about 20 years. The leaves of S. fasciflora are finely divided with 10 to 15 tips and sparsely hairy.

Clusters of five or more flowerheads may be seen on the shrubs all year round. The flowers are faintly scented and pale pink. The involucral bracts are lance-shaped.

The species distribution is in the southwest of the Western Cape, from the Cape Peninsula northwards as far as the Koue Bokkeveld and eastwards to around George.

The habitat is sandy flats or lower slopes in fynbos. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
