The dark brown fruit pods of the Senegalia nigrescens tree are fairly straight, tapering at base and tip. The margins are slightly undulating, widening around the individual seeds, constricting in between. The flat pod is thinly textured, dehiscent when dry. Pods sometimes persist for long periods on the tree, becoming pale grey.
There are usually five or six seeds per pod. The seed is flattish, more than 1 cm wide and triangular to almost circular in shape (Carr, 1976; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
