The largest leaves of Schizochilus cecilii subsp. transvaalensis are clustered on the lower stem part, growing semi-erect and sheathing the stem. Five to fifteen leaves are usually borne, smaller ones spaced up the stem to the inflorescence and grading into the bracts. The narrowly lance-shaped to oblong leaves often fold in from the midrib (www.africanorchids.dk; www.merlin-trust.org.uk; www.orchidspecies.com).
