Rhigozum obovatum in full flower contrasts in most striking fashion against the grey of the general landscape of its habitat. It may be the only bright and flourishing object for miles around as one drives through the Karoo; unless there is the collection of old plastic bags dangling from shrubs and fences.
When one stops to inspect the seemingly barren veld more closely, many other striking plants are noticed; albeit not as conspicuous as this vivid reminder to stop, observe and reflect upon what goes on under the scorching sun.
And remove at least one item of the discarded rubbish that diminished the experience.
