Schotia afra flowers

Schotia afra flowers in late winter and spring, the inflorescences many-flowered on spur-branchlets or in terminal heads. The sepals and petals are red, sometimes pink. The petals may be as long as 2,5 cm.

One young pod, still growing, can be seen with the flowers. The leaves appear to have been heavily browsed here. Fortunately, the flowers were formed later, making a reasonable photo possible.
