The small leaves of Selago dolosa are densely clustered along the stems. They are narrow and short, occasionally as long as 7 mm and 1 mm wide. The leaf colour varies from green to dark green or yellow-green.
The generic name, Selago, was an ancient name for club moss, the small Selago leaves often resembling club moss (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Andrew, 2017; iSpot).
