This Romulea rosea flower has three clearly distinguishable parts visible: At the top, pinkish purple inside petal surfaces point up, in the middle dark-striped outside surfaces on the three outer surfaces do the same on the near side of the cup, while green, flower-subtending bracts with pointed tips are positioned much lower around the flower base.
Such dark tepal outsides are not often seen on flowers of this plant. The variable species is represented by five recognised varieties in South Africa (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
