The Quaqua parviflora subsp. parviflora stems snake under bushes in the Northern Cape habitat; often horizontal, sometimes semi-erect. When older, the stems are brownish grey with some purple, the curved-tipped tubercles spaced evenly along the four stem ridges.
Side-branches angle slightly forward on the stems that become up to 40 cm long (Williamson, 2010; White and Sloane, 1937).
