This Salvia africana was found flowering during December west of Vryburg in the North West Province. The corolla is nearly hairless, unlike other forms of the plant. Only the partly open buds in picture show hairiness.
The lower corolla lips on the freshly opened flowers are quite white here and broad; more blue colouring is present on the older ones lower down. Few flowers form spaced whorls up the stalk.
The leaves are toothed, the upper surfaces coarsely textured (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
