    Searsia lucida leaflets are not always equally shiny or glossy. Leaflet colour is dark green, slightly paler on the lower surfaces. The leaflet tips vary considerably on the same plant, from pointed to notched and rounded.

    In picture the leaflet midrib is strongly ridged on the lower surface and not on top. Some lateral veins are also ridged below, but not as far as the margins. There is a pale cream translucence to midribs and lateral veins. Net-veining is obscure to invisible.

    The lower leaflet surfaces on this plant do not appear to be absolutely hairless. The plant in picture is believed to be S. lucida forma lucida (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iSpot).
