The erect, soft and hairy stem of the Senecio erosus plant bears most leaves at or near its base. Branching of the stem may happen at the base or higher up, allowing a flourishing specimen to produce numerous stem-tip flowerheads on long stalks. The stem leaves are alternate (Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
