    The younger, upper Satyrium coriifolium flowers in a spike may not nod or bend down as far as older flowers lower down. Upper parts of the corolla, particularly the outer surface of the lip on top is variably orange or yellow, relating to floral age (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Manning, 2007; Moriarty, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
