Stapelia hirsuta var. baylissii

Stapelia hirsuta var. baylissii is a stem succulent growing a clump of dull to shiny green stems. The rudimentary leaves on the stem ridges drop off, leaving inconspicuous white-tipped, tubercular teeth.

The distribution of this variety is limited to a small area in the Eastern Cape near the coast in the Port Elizabeth area. The plant is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (www.redlist.sanbi.org).
