Ruschia pungens flowers grow in branched inflorescences at the stem-tips. The seasonally floriferous bush branches from low down, the stems straight and sturdy. Flowering happens in spring and early summer.
Ruschia bushes are not much browsed.
Earlier names of the plant, Mesembryanthemum pungens and Ruschia cymosa, are now discarded (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
