    The developing Tetragonia hirsuta fruits, green and beginning to spread their four wings, are in picture still no longer than the segments of the perianths at their tips. The outside of the perianth lobes is brown, the inside yellow, hairless and floral.

    The fruit is positioned below the perianth that covers stamens and style before and after anthesis or opening (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
