    Flowers in different stages disclose some of the features and secrets of Tetragonia fruticosa. The four sepals have recurving margins on open flowers, not so on buds where they fit neatly and smoothly over the floral innards. Stamens change colour with flower age.

    The black item must be a visitor likely to contribute, while intent upon receiving; a bit of both is likely to happen, the usual way of sustaining flower and insect world.

    The photo was taken at Tietiesbaai in September (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
