Tetragonia fruticosa in fruit

The fruits of Tetragonia fruticosa shown here are lush, creamy green with some pink-shaded areas. Glistening watery cells add to the shine that can be observed on the broad blades of the four-winged fruit.

Tetragonia plants different much from the general appearance of members of the Aizoaceae or mesemb family (Manning, 2007).
