A stem-tip cluster of Tetragonia nigrescens flowers is often supported by more axillary flowers in smaller groups or solitary. The terminal group may consist of up to seven flowers.

The long pedicels in picture delivered their flowers at roughly the same height and fairly close together. A few globose to ovoid green buds are visible lower down, on their way up on still shorter pedicels.

The perianth segments form a short basal tube. The outer surfaces of the four segments are here green, resembling sepals. They may also be red purple. The perianth segment tips curve in slightly. Not all flowers in picture are fully open yet.

The dull olive-green stem is red-ridged (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
