Fever tree branches are conspicuous in bush landscapes. The yellow, greenish yellow to lime-green stem colouring is enhanced by sulphurous surface powder. Compared to the general surrounding bush in those parts of southern and central Africa where it grows, these branches are always eye-catching. The leaf cover in a fever tree is comparatively sparse, making most of flaunting its eerie stem paleness.
Often seen in swampy terrain, the largely tropical tree is frost sensitive and moisture loving. It can be resilient, popular along streets and in parks and gardens of many more areas than its typical habitat (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993).
