A Watsonia marginata inflorescence is a wand-like, erect and branching spike of many densely-stacked flowers facing outwards. Firm, dry bracts are present around the base of the corollas, the bracts tending to become torn before the flowers fade.

Dark pink or yellowish markings or calluses are present at the tepal bases, not found in other Watsonia species.

Flowering happens in spring and early summer. The plant bears rounded fruits (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
