Trichodiadema setuliferum

Trichodiadema setuliferum leaves are topped by tufts of a few bristly whitish hairs, the diadem or crown found in the generic name. These hairs, spreading in an unkempt manner. They are thought to serve in absorbing rain water or dew.  In cultivation Trichodiadema plants are said to lose these hairy leaf tops, especially where watering is abundant.

The cylindrical leaves grow in pairs with slight rounding at the tips. In the photo the variable leaf size is notable. So is the decorative coating of water cells on leaf surfaces. The leaf colour varies from pale green, yellowish green to pale brown to buff (Smith, et al, 1998).
