These narrow, green Trichodiadema leaves, slightly triangular in cross-section and curving down near their tips are thought to belong to Trichodiadema setuliferum. The curving feature is variable, sometimes only seen on the occasional leaf upon a stem.
The leaves grow decussate in spaced pairs along the stems. The plant is known from the Great Karoo, but this one was seen near Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo. Ten of the 34 Trichodiadema species are found in the Little Karoo.
The dry fruit capsule in picture has four locules (Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
