The involucre of an Ursinia cakilefolia flowerhead has about five rows of bracts densely overlapping to form a broad, rounded cup. The pointed bracts are green with dark margins, apart from those next to the rays. The inner row of bracts has rounded tips that are thinly membranous and transparent.

The receptacle at the base of the head has scales enfolding the florets.

The flowerheads droop in the budding stage, pulling to an erect position when opening. Some slackness may be present here, maybe moisture-related (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
