These Wiborgia tetraptera flowers have dark yellow-golden parts at the base of their banner petals that are proudly up like bishops’ mitres unconcerned with humility.
The wings are well shorter than the rigidly porrect (extended forward horizontally) keel below. Like proper wings they curve sideways in dashing style as if in flying motion.
The calyces are dark bulges at the back of the flowers. The old flowers have turned brown, a dead bishop among them.
