Outer perianth surfaces of the Tritonia securigera subsp. securigera flowers are on show during the budding phase. They come in paler as well as deeper shades of orange, lined with dark veins that are neither seen on the inside of the flowers nor on the outsides of the inner three tepals.
The oblong-triangular buds taper to the base, only slightly to the tip. The outer tepals fold over each other, keeping stamens and styles safe during their development.
The papery bracts at the flower bases are longitudinally dark lined (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; iNaturalist; https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
