Young Viscum rotundifolium fruits start off green or olive-green before a dull yellow “adolescent” phase. At this stage the shape is still slenderly ovoid, if skew could be accepted among the egg-shapes of the world.

In picture the fruit-tip, where the style-tip persists more than lingers, is curiously off-centre in several of the young fruits in picture. Adolescents everywhere are sometimes worrisome in their behaviour, but this plant seems able to correct youthful deviance before ripeness rather than maturity arrives.

Fortunately, no bird gives a thought to an off-centre fruit-tip when lunch is luscious in a good colour.
