The leaves of Viscum hoolei are minute like scales, opposite and drop off early. There are notable stem rings at the spaced nodes where the leaves grow and new branches emerge on the smooth stems.

The plant parts have many stomata that allow the escape of water vapour, by which suction builds pressure inside and extracts nutrients from host plants.

The smooth, stalkless, one-seeded berries are spherical, starting off green and ripening to whitish translucence (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://kromme-geelhout-database.co.za; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
