Trachyandra asperata flowers

The flowers of Trachyandra asperata grow in a simple, unbranched raceme, or in a branched panicle, depending on the variety, of which there are seven. The tubular buds may bulge slightly towards their tips. They are white with brown stripes.

Each long-pedicelled flower is subtended by a single, small, triangular bract that soon turns papery. The six white tepals with brown central bands are free and spreading.

Flowering is variable across the range and varieties, from spring to autumn.

The eventual fruits are about globose, covered in scattered, gland-tipped protuberances (Pooley, 1998; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; Lowrey and Wright, 1987; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist).
