The ellipsoid fruits of Zygophyllum debile have four or five narrow, initially inconspicuous wings. Starting off green, the fruit becomes reddish purple as it ripens.
The calyx persists at the back of the fruit for some time, as the style does at the tip (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
