Bonatea saundersioides flowers

In the centre of the Bonatea saundersioides flower the column includes the conspicuous central lobe of the rostellum. Behind it the anther resides and in front of it the female flower parts are positioned. Two short white stigma arms are protruding forward.

Below, the colour difference between the straight, darker green spur and the pale green central lobe of the lip, bent and shorter, can be seen; the two hanging together, the spur behind.

Two curious little pointy objects are visible, curved and finger-like, pointing outwards. They are the tips of the lateral sepals that angle down from the flower centre.

Flowering of B. saundersioides happens from late autumn to midwinter (Pooley, 1998).
