    Brownleea coerulea is an orchid that reaches heights from 10 cm to 60 cm. The species distribution ranges from the Eastern Cape to Limpopo along the eastern parts of the country and further into tropical Africa, also Madagascar. The habitat is forest shade where it grows on mossy tree trunks and rock ledges at elevations from sea level to 1500 m (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Gledhill, 1981; Pooley, 1984; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
