Buddleja saligna leaves

The simple leaves of Buddleja saligna are opposite, growing in decussate pairs on petioles of 2 mm to 10 mm long.

The leaf-shape is narrowly oblong or linear to elliptic or lanceolate. The leaf apex and the base both taper, although the base may sometimes be rounded and the tip spiny. The leaf dimensions are about 2 cm to 9 cm long by 0,5 cm to 1,5 cm wide. 

The softly leather blade surface is dark green to grey-green above and hairless to shiny but puckered from sunken venation. It is lighter to whitish below and hairy or roughly scaled with prominently raised midrib and net-veining. The margins are entire, sometimes irregular and rolled under.

The stipules between the leaf-pair petioles drop off early, leaving a small ridge (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Pooley, 1993; iNaturalist).
