Brachystelma coddii is a perennial growing several prostrate stems from a small, flattened, half-exposed tuber.
The species distribution is along the northern Drakensberg and other mountains in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, as well as in eSwatini (Swaziland).
The habitat is shallow soil pockets in rocky moutain ledges. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
