The alternate leaves of Brachylaena discolor are oblanceolate or obovate to oblong in shape with rounded or tapering tips. The leaf base tapers narrowly, merging with the leaf stalk that is about 1 cm long, but varying in length. Leaf margins are irregularly toothed or lobed when young, to almost entire when older. Leaf dimensions are 5 cm to 12 cm by 1,5 cm to 5 cm.

The leaf is leathery in texture and shiny, dark green on its upper surface. The lower surface is white felted, densely covered in woolly hairs, the veins raised here (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002).
