Barleria albostellata leaves changing colour

The Barleria albostellata plant in the photo displays marked differences between old and young leaves. New foliage is white with dense hairy coverings, the older leaves bright green and less hairy. Long internodes are present between the opposite leaf pairs. Lateral veins on the leaves are parallel, ascending towards the margins and curving in.

The white flowers are bilaterally symmetrical, the lower lip undivided and obovate, the upper one four-lobed. The large, globose structure formed by opposite bracts below the petals outlives the them, protecting the ovary. White stamen or style remains protrude from the bracts (Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982).
