Some Brunsvigia radulosa umbels may appear not so precise in their flower opening sequences. An uneven to haphazard event is apparently unfolding here, as can well be expected from festive occasions where the unexpected plays a role! Youngest buds are, however, still emerging from the centre of the umbel. The upper, younger, open flowers are whiter than the old ones lower down.

The buds have a short, deeper pink section at the tepal bases that persists here on the outside of open flowers, not on the insides of the perianths (Duncan, et al, 2016; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
